Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve

Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve is a protected area in Plano spanning around 800 acres with woodlands, wetlands, prairies, and a 16-acre lake fed by Rowlett Creek. The terrain contains different habitats that support a range of plant and animal life throughout the seasons.

The preserve was established to protect natural habitats and wildlife in the Plano area from further development and loss. Its creation represented a key commitment by the community to maintain green space and ecological diversity for the future.

The Nature and Retreat Center offers regular programs where visitors can learn directly about the plants and animals found here. These activities help people understand the ecosystems and develop a deeper connection to the natural world around them.

The preserve offers 3.5 miles of paved trails and 5 miles of natural paths suitable for walking, biking, fishing, kayaking, and horseback riding. Spring through fall is the most pleasant time to visit, as winter weather can make some paths less accessible.

The property features a treetop adventure course with zip lines and suspended obstacles that let visitors experience the forest canopy from high above. This activity is a surprising feature for a nature preserve, offering an unconventional way to explore the landscape.
