Museum of the American Railroad

The Museum of the American Railroad is a railroad museum in Frisco, Texas, displaying over 70 pieces of equipment across a large site. The collection includes different types of locomotives, passenger cars, and freight cars from various periods.

The museum was founded in 1963 and operated at Fair Park before relocating to Frisco in 2011. This move allowed for significant expansion and improved display conditions for the collection.

The museum preserves railroad heritage through guided tours, educational programs, and exhibits that demonstrate the influence of trains on American transportation development.

The site is large and sometimes uneven, so comfortable shoes and plenty of time for exploring are recommended. Access to the vehicles varies depending on weather conditions and events at the location.

Among the exhibits is a massive Union Pacific locomotive from the 1940s, a rare example of its type. Visitors can see these large machines up close and experience their impressive scale firsthand.
