The Museum of the American Railroad is a railroad museum in Frisco, Texas, displaying over 70 pieces of equipment across a large site. The collection includes different types of locomotives, passenger cars, and freight cars from various periods.

The museum started in 1963 as a small exhibit at Fair Park, held alongside the annual State Fair of Texas, and became an official museum in 1986. It stayed at that Dallas site until November 2011, when it moved to Frisco under a strategic plan called Visions 2006. Offices and some exhibits were temporarily housed at the Frisco Heritage Museum during construction.

The museum grew out of a small exhibit at the State Fair of Texas in 1963 and took its present name after operating as the Age of Steam Railroad Museum. Guided tours let visitors walk through some of the cars, and TrainTopia, a G scale model layout, opened in July 2018 in the neighbouring Frisco Discovery Center.

The site is large and sometimes uneven, so comfortable shoes and plenty of time for exploring are recommended. Access to the vehicles varies depending on weather conditions and events at the location.

The Union Pacific #4018 is a Big Boy 4-8-8-4 built by ALCO in 1941, one of the largest steam locomotives ever made. In the photograph it stands behind a chain-link fence, its dark blue-black boiler and white-rimmed driving wheels set beside a wooden utility pole carrying two grey transformers.
