Southfork Ranch, Event center and TV-series house museum in Parker, United States
Southfork Ranch is a conference and event center in Parker, Texas, 25 miles north of Dallas. Its Ewing Mansion is a 5,900 sq ft white clapboard house with a dark shingled roof, a gabled wing and a second-floor porch on four square white columns; a small white cupola sits at one end of the roofline. The 957 sq ft enclosed garage was converted into a den and card room.
The property became a television filming location in the late 1970s for a Texas-set series that aired for over a decade. After production ended, the ranch opened as a museum and tourist destination.
The mansion exhibits items from the Dallas series, including the gun from J.R.'s shooting scene, Lucy's wedding dress, and Jock's Lincoln Continental.
The site opens five days a week with guided tours through the main house and access to outdoor areas. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes for walking and allow time to stroll the grounds beyond the mansion tour.
The house was built in 1970 by farmer Joe R. Duncan as Duncan Acres, and he still lived there with his family when filming began. The show's success turned the house into a tourist draw, so Duncan moved out and in 1985 set up a museum devoted to the series on the ranch.
