Forney is a residential city located in northwestern Kaufman County, Texas, situated near Lake Ray Hubbard and the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The community spans approximately 15 square miles and serves as home to families and a growing population in the region.
The settlement was named after John W. Forney in 1871 and was officially incorporated as a city in 1884. This founding period established the foundations for the community that exists today.
