Sherman is a county seat in northern Texas and lies in Grayson County, roughly 70 miles north of Dallas. The city forms a metro area together with the neighboring community of Denison.
The state legislature founded the settlement in 1846 as the administrative seat of Grayson County. The following year, the first post office opened its doors.
Downtown streets line up with restored brick buildings that now house shops and cafés. Walking through these blocks, you often see people shopping or having coffee on small patios.
The town center can be explored on foot, while trips to the surrounding area require a car. Most shops and facilities are open during daytime hours from Monday through Saturday.
A college campus from the 1800s sits right in town and gives it an academic feel. Many students do not commute but live directly in the buildings on the grounds.
