Lake Gilmer, Reservoir in Texas, United States

Lake Gilmer is a reservoir in Texas located approximately 4 miles west of Gilmer, covering around 1,010 acres with a maximum depth of 28 feet. The lake sits on Kelsey Creek within the Cypress River Basin and is surrounded by forests and wetlands that create a natural setting.

Lake Gilmer opened on September 29, 2001, four miles west of downtown Gilmer at State Highway 852. The reservoir covers 1,010 acres, and a further 1,557 acres of surrounding land are planned for development into hiking and nature trails.

The lake is easily reached from downtown Gilmer via FM 852 and has parking and facilities for visitors. Well-marked trails lead through the area and extend into the nearby Kelsey Creek Sanctuary, where additional nature paths are available.
