Congregation Gemiluth Chassodim

Congregation Gemiluth Chassodim is a reform synagogue located in a brick building on Turner Street in Alexandria. The structure includes a large sanctuary, classrooms, and offices designed to accommodate religious services and community activities.

The congregation was founded in 1859 by immigrants from Alsace who established it as the Hebrew Benevolent Society of Rapides Parish. Their initial purpose was to create a Jewish cemetery for the local community.
