Christ Church

Christ Church is a brick building with Gothic features including narrow lancet windows and buttresses that break up the facade. The exterior is covered with stucco that creates the appearance of cut stone masonry.

The building was constructed in 1858 and incorporated bricks from an earlier chapel from 1829 that stood on the same site. This continuity shows a long history of use for worship.

The congregation here has deep roots in the region, and this is reflected in how the space is used by visitors and community members today. The original function as a gathering place for worshippers still shapes the feeling of the place.

The property is located on MS 553 and covers about 1.4 acres with parking and access to the building. Original furnishings like pews and baptismal font remain in place and add to the visitor experience.

The roof features a rare hammer-beam structure that is rarely seen in Gothic buildings of this region. This craftsman solution was a practical choice for the architects of the 1800s.
