Pike County is an administrative division in southwestern Mississippi covering an area of roughly 411 square miles. Magnolia serves as the county seat, while McComb is the largest city within this region.
The area was separated from Marion County in 1815, with Holmesville initially serving as the county seat. The administrative center relocated to Magnolia in 1873.
The county maintains three distinct school districts - McComb, North Pike, and South Pike - alongside Southwest Mississippi Community College for higher education.
Interstate 55, U.S. Highway 51, and U.S. Highway 98 form the main road connections to surrounding areas. These routes provide straightforward access through the region and to its main towns.
The county demonstrates political diversity as a swing region in presidential elections, alternating between Democratic and Republican preferences since 2000.
