Built in 1932 by Guy Spearman, the facility distributed ice to local communities until 1970, supporting households before widespread refrigeration adoption.
The building's design incorporated hand signal carvings on walls, allowing customers from different social backgrounds to communicate their ice requirements without verbal interaction.
Located at 2024 North Davis Street, the structure maintains its original office space and storage freezer, with a concrete driveway connecting Davis Street to Jordan Street.
The structure's 45-degree orientation to the street and 10-foot cantilevered roof facilitated efficient drive-through service for motorists purchasing ice.
