Garcon Point Bridge, Toll bridge in Santa Rosa County, United States
Garcon Point Bridge is a toll road bridge made of prestressed concrete that crosses Pensacola Bay, linking U.S. Route 98 near Gulf Breeze to Interstate 10 near Milton. The structure spans several miles and serves as a critical regional route for traffic moving between the two highways.
Construction of this prestressed concrete structure finished in 1999, marking a significant infrastructure milestone for the region. The project represented a major effort to improve traffic connections between two main highways in northwest Florida.
The bridge received recognition from the Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers, earning the 2000 Engineering Excellence Grand Award for its technical achievements.
The toll plaza features multiple lanes with different payment options, including electronic pass-through systems for registered users. Vehicles can proceed through the toll zone at steady speeds without coming to a complete stop.
A notable aspect of the project was the technical efficiency during assembly of the bridge sections. Work crews completed the installation of multiple large prefabricated concrete elements in remarkably short time, demonstrating the engineering skill involved in the construction.
