Roosevelt State Park

Roosevelt State Park is a natural area in Scott County with around 550 acres surrounding Shadow Lake. The lake covers about 60 acres and sits at the western edge of Bienville National Forest.

The park was established in 1935 through the Civilian Conservation Corps program, a major employment effort during the Great Depression. This historical project helped preserve the land and create jobs during difficult times.

The Performing Arts & Media Center draws visitors for theater productions and musical performances throughout the year. These events bring the community together and serve as a cultural hub for the region.

The park offers various overnight options from basic camping spots to comfortable cabins for different needs. Visitors should book early, especially on weekends and during peak season.

The grounds feature an 18-hole disc golf course, a somewhat unusual athletic facility in regional parkland. This attraction draws a dedicated community of players who practice the sport regularly.
