Guairá Department

Located between Caazapa and Alto Parana departments, Guaira encompasses 3,846 square kilometers of agricultural land with the capital city of Villarrica.

The department came into existence during Paraguay's post-independence reorganization in the early 19th century, establishing 18 administrative districts across the territory.

The Paranaygua indigenous tribe inhabited this region before Spanish colonization, maintaining their traditions through fishing practices and community structures.

The department maintains a network of regional roads connecting its districts, facilitating transportation of agricultural products and supporting local commerce.

Guaira experiences temperature variations from 1 to 38 degrees Celsius throughout the year, influencing its agricultural production of yerba mate and sugar cane.
