Wonderboom

Wonderboom is a magnificent fig tree in Pretoria with an unusual growth pattern where branches bend downward and develop into roots. The structure forms multiple layers with several distinct trunks that together create an expansive shaded area.

This fig tree was discovered by Hendrik Potgieter and the Voortrekkers in 1836 during their migration and quickly became an important landmark. The discovery made it a known marker along the route of early European settlers in the region.
