Royal Perth Hospital, Public hospital and heritage site in Perth, Australia
Royal Perth Hospital operates as a 450-bed adult teaching hospital at the northeastern edge of Perth's central business district, providing medical services to Western Australia.
The hospital traces its origins to 1829 when it began as a tent hospital on Garden Island before relocating to Cathedral Avenue in Perth during 1830.
The institution maintains partnerships with four major universities and TAFE institutions across Western Australia, training future medical professionals through hands-on experience.
The hospital serves more than 70,000 patients annually with comprehensive medical services, including trauma care, surgical procedures, and internal medicine specialties.
Professors Barry Marshall and Robin Warren conducted research at this hospital that led to their 2005 Nobel Prize in Physiology for discovering the role of bacteria in stomach ulcers.
