Hoffman Mill, Western Australia, Historic sawmill and camping site in Shire of Harvey, Australia

Hoffman Mill is a historic timber processing facility with adjacent camping grounds in the Shire of Harvey, Western Australia. The site contains a mix of facilities including flush toilets in the main area and basic pit toilets in camping zones, with water access points distributed throughout.

The original settlement was relocated about 12 kilometers north following a fire in 1919, with the new site taking the name Hoffman Mill. This move led to the establishment of a fresh community at the new location.

The settlement functioned as a self-contained community hub with shops, a post office, and meeting spaces serving around 150 residents. Visitors walking through the grounds can sense how daily life revolved around shared spaces and local commerce.

The drive takes about 27 kilometers northeast from Harvey via South Western Highway, then along Logue Brook Dam Road to Clarke Road. Visitors should allow time for rural driving and plan their route before arriving.

Former residents planted fig and peach trees along the river that still grow today, surrounded by wild lilies and roses. These abandoned gardens reveal how settlers also cultivated fruit and flowers for their own use.
