Wings Over Miami, Aviation museum at Miami Executive Airport, United States
Wings Over Miami is an aviation museum at Miami Executive Airport, displaying aircraft from different eras and countries. The collection covers World War II planes, Soviet-era fighters, and training aircraft, with most of them kept in flying condition.
The museum opened in 2001, founded by aviation enthusiasts after the Weeks Air Museum closed following hurricane damage. Several aircraft from that earlier collection found a new home here, keeping them accessible to the public.
Many of the aircraft on display can still fly, which sets this museum apart from most others of its kind. During air shows held at the airport, some of these machines take to the sky, giving visitors a rare chance to see history in motion.
The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday, so planning your visit around those days is essential. Bring comfortable shoes, as much of the collection is displayed outdoors and you will walk between aircraft spread across an open area.
The collection holds both an F-14 Tomcat and a MiG-21, two fighter jets that stood on opposite sides during the Cold War. Finding both machines side by side in one place is rare anywhere in the world.
