Astronaut Memorial Planetarium and Observatory, Astronomical observatory in Cocoa, Florida, US
The Astronaut Memorial Planetarium and Observatory contained a 210-seat planetarium theater with a 70-foot overhead hemisphere for night sky simulations.
Following damage from Hurricane Irma in September 2017, the facility closed and was later demolished in 2022 after unsuccessful attempts to secure repair funding.
The facility incorporated multiple educational spaces, including the Science Quest Exhibit Hall and International Hall of Space Explorers dedicated to space science education.
Located at 1519 Clearlake Road in Cocoa, Florida, the observatory provided public access to celestial observations through a 24-inch Ritchey-Chrétien telescope.
The planetarium theater utilized a Minolta Infinium Star Projector for astronomical presentations and featured a three-story IWERKS motion picture screen.
