Claybank Log Church, Methodist log church in Ozark, Alabama.

Claybank Log Church is a simple wooden structure built from carefully stacked logs in Ozark, Alabama. The interior is a single room constructed entirely from local pine logs joined together with hand-crafted corners.

Reverend Dempsey Dowling built this church in 1852 to replace an earlier house of worship. It became the oldest standing structure in Dale County and represents the area's early religious settlement.

The church served as a gathering place where people met for worship and community matters. It was a space where residents shared their lives and made decisions that affected the whole area.

The church sits on a quiet lot along East Andrews Avenue in Ozark and can be reached easily from the main town area. The setting is peaceful and allows you to see the building in its natural surroundings without much distraction.

The building was constructed entirely without nails or metal fasteners, relying only on hand-cut wooden joints to hold the logs together. This method shows the skilled carpentry that was necessary to create sturdy buildings in the frontier period.
