Colquitt is the county seat of Miller County in southwestern Georgia and serves as the region's administrative and business hub. The town is connected by several state and federal highways that link it to surrounding communities.
The town was established in 1856 by the Georgia Legislature and named after U.S. Congressman and Senator Walter Terry Colquitt. This founding made it the administrative center of the newly organized Miller County.
The population of 2,001 residents represents a diverse community with 54.77% Black or African American and 40.08% White inhabitants according to the 2020 census.
The town is easy to explore on foot, with a compact center and a town square that serves as a landmark. Those arriving from outside can rely on several well-maintained roads that connect in all directions.
