Cedartown, County seat in Polk County, Georgia

Cedartown is a city in Polk County, Georgia, situated on rolling hills with wide streets lined by buildings from the 1800s. The architecture reflects its development during this period with structures still standing today.

The town took its name in 1851 from red cedar trees that grew in the area when settler Asa Prior designated land near Big Spring for its founding. These early beginnings grew into the county seat it became later.

The local Coca-Cola museum displays items connected to the beverage brand's history, drawing visitors interested in this company's story. The collection shows how the brand became woven into the town's identity.

The Silver Comet Trail begins near the city and offers paved paths for cycling, walking, and running through northwest Georgia. This route is easy to access and works for various activity levels.

The city contains four separate historic districts with architecture from the 1890s, including the Waterworks building and Big Spring Park. These districts showcase different building styles and details that reveal the town's past.
