Shoal Creek Church, Historic Baptist church in Edwardsville, Alabama.

Shoal Creek Church is a wooden building situated on three acres within the rural landscape near Talladega National Forest, roughly 13 miles from Heflin. The structure displays the typical design of a country church from this region and period.

The building was constructed in 1895 as the third structure erected on this site and received National Register of Historic Places designation in 1974. Regular religious services at the location came to an end after the last official church minutes were recorded in 1914.

The church hosts Sacred Harp singing events that reflect a musical tradition rooted in Southern religious practice. These gatherings show how this particular form of singing connects people to the area's spiritual identity.

The site is managed by the Shoal Creek Baptist Church Preservation Society, which coordinates visits and events. It is best to contact the organization in advance if you plan to visit or wish to attend any special gatherings.

The property contains several cemeteries that document generations of local families laid to rest there. These burial grounds form a quiet testament to the long history of community presence at this location.
