Smyrna is a municipality in Cobb County within the Atlanta metropolitan area, covering roughly 15 square miles (39 square kilometers) of residential streets and retail zones. History
The community began in 1832 as a small settlement and was officially incorporated in 1872. On July 4, 1864, two clashes during the Civil War took place here, briefly placing the town at the center of military movements.
