Mount Wilkinson, Mountain summit in Cobb County, United States.

Mount Wilkinson is a mountain summit in Cobb County rising to approximately 1,165 feet above sea level in the Chattahoochee River valley. The landscape blends forested slopes with modern office buildings that dot the surrounding terrain.

During the Civil War in 1864, General William T. Sherman observed Atlanta's church spires from this summit, revealing its strategic military significance. The mountain served as an important vantage point during this period of conflict.

The summit holds a private cemetery where Hardy Pace, an influential founder of nearby Vinings, was buried. This burial ground connects local history with the memory of the region's early community leaders.

Several trails climb the summit via Mount Wilkinson Parkway Southeast with multiple entry points for visitors. Plan time for the ascent and check trail conditions before your visit.

The Atlanta Rotary Club funded half of the acquisition cost when the mountain was purchased, contributing to the establishment of the original Bert Adams Scout Camp. This community involvement shaped how the site developed as a recreational space.
