Chastain Memorial Park, Municipal park in Buckhead, Atlanta, United States.
Chastain Memorial Park is a 268-acre wedge-shaped park in north Atlanta, bounded by Lake Forrest Drive, Powers Ferry Road and West Wieuca Road, with Nancy Creek crossing it east to west. It holds an 18-hole golf course, tennis courts, a public pool, ball fields, a horse park and an amphitheater built into a natural hillside bowl. A paved 3.92-mile trail loops the grounds.
Fulton County bought the land in 1900 for an almshouse that opened in 1911, with a brick Neoclassical Revival main building by Morgan and Dillon. In 1940, under Commissioner Troy Green Chastain Sr., 268 acres were set aside as North Fulton Park, developed with WPA labor. It was renamed Chastain Memorial Park in 1946 and transferred to the City of Atlanta in 1952.
The Chastain Arts Center displays work by local artists throughout the year. The amphitheater hosts concerts and performances that bring together people from across the city.
Pathways throughout the park are well-marked and accessible for walking and cycling. Shaded areas and seating spots are scattered across the grounds for breaks.
A 2014 ground-penetrating radar survey confirmed 86 unmarked graves of the North Fulton Park Cemetery, a pauper's burial ground laid out when the county almshouse stood here. The graves lie beside the fifth green of the golf course.
