State Bank Amphitheatre, Outdoor amphitheatre in Chastain Park, Atlanta, US
State Bank Amphitheatre is an outdoor performance space in Chastain Park that holds up to 6,900 people with tiered seating sections arranged for good views from all angles. The venue has covered areas for weather protection, modern lighting and sound systems, and accessibility features including elevator access to different levels.
This outdoor music venue opened in 1944, making it one of Atlanta's oldest continuously operating performance spaces. Major renovations in recent years updated the infrastructure while keeping the original character of the facility intact.
The venue hosts more than 200,000 visitors each season, presenting performances from the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and various musical genres from April through October.
The grounds are easily walkable and seating is arranged so most spots have decent views of the stage. Visitors should come prepared for the season, as summers can be hot and spring or fall evenings may be cool.
The overhead steel structure above the stage was raised during recent renovations to accommodate advanced lighting and video systems. This upgrade lets performances use more sophisticated visual effects than were previously possible.
