Georgia Southern Botanical Garden, Botanical garden in Statesboro, United States.
The Georgia Southern Botanical Garden is a sprawling space on a former farmstead with walking trails through different plant collections. It features native species from the southeastern coastal plain alongside ornamental varieties, plus a museum with restored farm buildings.
The site began as a farmstead belonging to Dan and Catharine Bland in the early 1900s. It later became a botanical garden to preserve the rural heritage of the region.
The Rural Life Museum shows how farming families lived and worked in the region during the early 1900s. Inside the restored buildings, you can see the tools and practices that shaped daily life on the farm.
You can explore on your own or follow the marked trails that wind through different plant sections. Wear good shoes since the ground is uneven and trails change with the seasons.
The garden protects more than 20 plant species found only in Georgia, including carnivorous pitcher plants and ancient longleaf pines. These rare species thrive here in a setting that closely matches their natural home.
