Tower of Jewels, Folly in United States of America
The Tower of Jewels was a temporary structure built for the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition.
At 435 feet, it was the tallest structure at the exposition and symbolized San Francisco's recovery from the 1906 earthquake.
Adorned with over 100,000 cuts of glass, the tower sparkled in the sun, creating a dazzling effect.
Although no longer standing, the Tower of Jewels left a lasting legacy on exhibition design.
Nicknamed 'Nob Hill', the tower featured a giant figure of a phoenix, representing the city's rebirth.
