Tower of Jewels, Temporary exhibition tower at Marina District, San Francisco, United States
The Tower of Jewels reached 435 feet in height and incorporated both triumphal arch and tower architectural elements in its grand design.
The structure served as the centerpiece of the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition, marking San Francisco's recovery from the 1906 earthquake.
The tower displayed 100,000 Novagems, cut glass pieces that reflected sunlight during daytime and glowed under fifty spotlights after dark.
The construction materials included staff, a combination of plaster and fiber material stretched over a wooden and steel framework.
Following the exposition, each Novagem was sold for one dollar with a brass medallion certifying its placement on the original tower.
