Yoda Fountain, Bronze fountain at Letterman Digital Arts Center, San Francisco, United States
The bronze sculpture depicts Yoda in a seated position atop a working water fountain outside Building B at the Letterman Digital Arts Center. Standing 32 inches (81 centimeters) tall and weighing 170 pounds (77 kilograms), the figure rests on a circular stone base from which water flows. The fountain sits within a landscaped setting surrounded by walkways.
Lawrence Noble produced the original eleven-inch statue in 1990 for the official Lucasfilm fan club membership materials. Fifteen years later, he crafted this larger bronze version, which was installed in 2005 outside the new Lucasfilm headquarters at the Presidio. The company had relocated its facilities to this site after decades of operation in Marin County.
This installation connects the Bay Area to the Star Wars universe, marking where Lucasfilm has maintained its headquarters since relocating to the Presidio. Fans travel from around the world to photograph the most recognizable Jedi Master character outside the building that serves as the creative hub for the franchise's ongoing film and media production.
Located at 1 Letterman Drive within the Presidio grounds, the installation is accessible after checking in with gate security personnel. Visitor parking is available on site, though guests must state their purpose to the attendant. The fountain can be viewed and photographed from outside the building during business hours without entering the facility.
Noble produced only 25 numbered pieces at this scale, making each installation part of a strictly limited series. The level of detail in the ears, wrinkles and facial features matches the film reference materials, achieved through direct access to Lucasfilm archive resources during the creation process that few sculptors receive.
