Embarcadero, Waterfront in San Francisco
The Embarcadero is the eastern waterfront and roadway of the Port of San Francisco.
It was constructed on reclaimed land along a three mile long engineered seawall, from which piers extend into the bay.
It's home to the Ferry Building, a vibrant public space housing a food hall, restaurants and a farmers market.
You can explore it by foot, bike or historic streetcar.
The Embarcadero Freeway, an elevated highway that was torn down after the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake.
