USS Hornet, Aircraft carrier in the United States

The USS Hornet (CV-12) is an Essex-class aircraft carrier built for the United States Navy during World War II.

Originally named USS Kearsarge, it was renamed in honor of the USS Hornet (CV-8), which was lost in October 1942.

The ship played a major role in the Pacific battles of World War II, and also recovered astronauts of the Apollo 11 and Apollo 12 missions.

It is now a National Historic Landmark, and is open to the public as part of the USS Hornet Museum in Alameda, California.

The USS Hornet is said to be one of the most haunted warships in the American navy, with numerous reports of supernatural events.
