Bryant Family Vineyard, Wine estate on Pritchard Hill in Saint Helena, United States
Bryant Family Vineyard is a winery on Pritchard Hill above Lake Hennessey that spreads across 13 acres of hillside terrain. The vines are cultivated using biodynamic methods and produce Cabernet Sauvignon wine.
Donald Bryant purchased the land in 1985 intending to build a home, but recognized its potential for wine production and established the vineyard in 1986. The property developed steadily throughout that decade.
The vineyard became known in the 1990s as part of a new wave of California winemakers who gained international attention. Today it represents a particular approach to small-scale, quality-focused production in the region.
The winery sells most of its production directly to customers through an allocation system with limited distribution to other countries. Plan ahead since inventory is limited and advance contact is typically required for visits.
The vineyard produces only about 75 barrels annually from its 13 acres, while similar-sized estates in the region typically produce four times as much. This limited yield is a deliberate choice reflecting its production philosophy.
