Beaverton is a city in Washington County, Oregon, covering roughly 20 square miles in the Tualatin Valley. The area combines residential streets with shopping centers and office parks that form a continuous urban landscape with Portland.
Lawrence Hall built a grist mill on Beaverton Creek in 1847, establishing the first settlement in the area. Thomas Denney followed a year later with a sawmill that enabled timber production for the growing community.
