Vista Bridge, Historic road bridge in Goose Hollow, Portland, US
Vista Bridge is a concrete arch bridge that spans Tanner Creek Canyon and connects the Kings Hill and Vista Ridge neighborhoods. The structure stretches about 248 feet and features four pedestrian balconies fitted with concrete benches.
Built in 1926, the concrete arch replaced the earlier Ford Street Bridge from 1903, which once carried streetcar routes to Council Crest. This replacement was part of Portland's effort to modernize its transportation network.
The bridge was added to the National Register in 1984, reflecting Portland's commitment to preserving important early-twentieth-century structures.
The location provides an important crossing point over MAX Light Rail and Jefferson Street for both pedestrians and vehicles. The balcony areas are convenient spots to pause and take in the surroundings.
From the bridge, which rises roughly 120 feet above the canyon, visitors can spot downtown Portland and, on clear days, Mount Hood in the distance. This elevated vantage point reveals a surprising panoramic view tucked within the city.
