Blaine Smith House, Historic residence in Mount Tabor, Portland, United States.
The Blaine Smith House is a two-story residential building in Portland featuring a basement level and attic space. The structure includes single-story additions such as a covered carport and enclosed porch, along with a detached three-car garage positioned separately on the lot.
Ellis F. Lawrence designed this residence in 1909 in the Arts and Crafts style for its original owner. The house represents the architectural preferences of that early 20th century period and its influence on residential design.
The interior features oak paneling and coffered ceilings that reflect the handcrafted design principles popular in the early 1900s. These details remain visible and show how people valued quality craftsmanship in their homes during that era.
A curved driveway provides access to the main entrance, while a separate drive on the west side serves the garage and carport area. Multiple entry points make it possible to walk around the property and view it from different angles.
The second floor contains five bedrooms arranged around a large landing area. This landing then leads to two more rooms and a kitchen in the attic, creating an unusual floor plan that extends living space vertically.
