Northwest Library

The Northwest Library is a public library in the Northwest Portland area that serves multiple age groups through dedicated spaces on its premises. The facility houses book collections, digital resources, and separate sections organized by reader needs and interests.

The library opened in January 2001 to serve the growing population of Northwest Portland. It was established as part of the Multnomah County Library system in response to expanding neighborhood needs.

The library serves the neighborhood's diverse language communities through collections in Chinese, Spanish, Russian, Somali, and Vietnamese. These language-specific materials reflect how deeply the space responds to what local residents actually need.

The library is open seven days a week, with extended hours until 8 PM on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Visitors should allow enough time to explore the different sections and find what they need.

A major expansion project beginning in 2024 will double the library's space and add technology-equipped areas for teenagers. This construction will significantly transform the location and create more room for community gatherings.
