Old Astoria City Hall, Colonial Revival museum in Astoria, United States.
Old Astoria City Hall is an early 20th century municipal building in Astoria featuring symmetrical facades and classical details typical of Colonial Revival style. Today it houses a museum and preserves the original architectural character with its distinctive design elements.
The building was designed by Emil Schacht in 1904 and completed in 1905, becoming Astoria's administrative center when it opened. It served this role until 1939 before being repurposed for other uses.
The structure transformed from a city hall into the Columbia River Maritime Museum between 1963 and 1982, later becoming the Heritage Museum.
The building is located in downtown Astoria and is easy to reach on foot, with exhibits housed inside. Visitors should allow time for a full walk through the space to explore the architectural details and museum collections.
The building gained recognition on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984 and forms part of the Astoria Downtown Historic District. This designation underscores its importance as a preserved element of the city's protected center.
