Fay Peak, Mountain summit in Mount Rainier National Park, United States.
Fay Peak is a mountain in Mount Rainier National Park with two separate summits that together create its distinctive profile. The location offers expansive views across the surrounding Cascade Range peaks and valleys.
The first documented climb took place in 1884, and the geographic board officially named the peak in 1913. This naming reflected the importance of early exploration in the mountain range.
The mountain bears the name of Fay Fuller, who made history as the first woman to reach Mount Rainier's summit in August 1890.
Access to the mountain is easiest from July through September when snow is minimal and visibility is clear. Good physical fitness and proper mountain gear are needed for the climb.
Water from the peak flows in two directions: eastward toward Cataract Creek and westward toward Mowich Lake and River. This water divide is a distinctive feature few visitors notice.
