Comox, Coastal town in British Columbia, Canada
Comox is a town on the eastern coast of Vancouver Island, extending along the waters of the Georgia Strait. The community centre serves as the main hub for recreational programs and local gatherings.
The area was originally known as kw'umuxws by the Kʼómoks people, who settled here for thousands of years because of the fertile land. The place later became established as a coastal town with military operations.
The Canadian Forces base here is home to the Snowbirds aerobatic team, which conducts flight demonstrations across the surrounding region.
Visitors can easily walk the waterfront and explore the various parks and beaches scattered throughout the town. Most facilities are accessible and well-marked for navigation.
The Comox Glacier is plainly visible from several spots across town and serves as a natural landmark of the area. This glacial feature attracts photographers and nature observers regularly.
