Comox Valley Regional District, Regional district in British Columbia, Canada
The Comox Valley Regional District is an administrative region on the eastern coast of Vancouver Island that brings together several municipalities and electoral areas. The area combines coastal communities with mountain zones and rural spaces across its territory.
The region came into being through an administrative reorganization that separated it from a larger district to create an independent governing area. This change allowed local services to be managed more closely to the communities they serve.
The region includes two Indian reserves, K'omoks Indian Reserve No. 1 and Puntledge Indian Reserve No. 2, maintaining independent jurisdictions within the district.
The main administrative hub is located in Courtenay, where visitors can find information about services and local matters. The area is well connected by road, and most communities are relatively close to each other.
The region encompasses several Indigenous reserves that maintain their own governance systems and function as separate jurisdictions within the broader area. This spatial arrangement reveals the complex governance relationships found across Western Canada.
