Goldstream Provincial Park, Provincial park in Capital Regional District, Canada
Goldstream Provincial Park is a nature reserve near Victoria, British Columbia, covering a forest area with old Douglas fir trees, waterfalls, and streams. Rivers flow through the valley and create habitats for salmon and other wildlife.
The land was gifted to British Columbia by the Victoria Water Board in 1958 and became a park. Larger areas were added to it during the 1990s.
The visitor centre shares how the place connects to salmon migrations and eagle movements throughout the year, and what these natural rhythms mean to the region. Local people have long identified the park with these seasonal events.
The park offers campsites year-round, some can be reserved and some are available on a first-come basis. Many hiking paths lead through the valley and over ridges.
From October to December, thousands of Chum Salmon return to Goldstream River. This is followed by one of Canada's largest gatherings of Bald Eagles between December and February.
