Bear Mountain

Bear Mountain is a golf complex near Victoria with two 18-hole courses designed by Jack Nicklaus that spread across rolling terrain with views of Mount Finlayson. The facility sits on land that slopes noticeably, creating challenging elevation changes throughout the holes.

The Mountain Course opened in 2003, establishing the first Nicklaus-designed 36-hole facility in Canada. The Valley Course was added in 2009, completing the two-course complex.

The golf resort integrates Canadian mountain landscapes with professional sport facilities, attracting international tournaments and golf enthusiasts throughout the year.

The courses demand careful club selection due to steep slopes, and wind conditions change significantly across different elevations. Expect the terrain to become more challenging as you move through the later holes, so plan your energy accordingly.

The 14th hole on the Mountain Course offers sweeping views across Victoria and the Strait of Juan de Fuca toward the Olympic Mountains in the distance. On clear days this par-3 creates an unusual golf experience where the landscape becomes as much a part of the experience as the hole itself.
