Henry M. Jackson, Bronze commemorative bust at University of Washington, United States.
The Henry M. Jackson sculpture is a bronze bust located outside Thomson Hall on the University of Washington campus. The work portrays a man's head with naturalistic facial features, standing on a pedestal near the sculpture of composer Edvard Grieg.
The bust was created by artist Wendy Ross in 1985 to honor US Senator Henry Jackson, who represented Washington state in the Senate from 1953 until his death in 1983. The memorial was later relocated to its current position beside Thomson Hall.
The sculpture stands near the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies, where students learn about global affairs and political relations.
The memorial is located on the public University of Washington campus and can be visited at no cost. Since the bust sits outdoors, visitors can view and photograph it during daylight hours anytime they pass through the area.
The bust was relocated to its current location in 2006 after a major newspaper article drew attention to the work. This move made the sculpture more visible and accessible to more people visiting the campus.
