Kanim Falls, waterfall
Kanim Falls is a waterfall on the North Fork of the Snoqualmie River in Washington. The water drops about 280 feet in a thin, horsetail shape and flows into a large talus field at its base.
The falls are named after the local area and are known among hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. The region was long important to the Snoqualmie people, who used the area for fishing and spiritual practices.
The falls lie in a remote mountain area with no marked trails, so experienced hikers are required. Plan for thick vegetation and rough terrain, and prepare for a challenging hike without official facilities nearby.
Water flow varies greatly by season because snowmelt from higher elevations feeds the stream. In late summer and fall the falls can nearly dry up, while May through August the snowmelt creates a powerful sight.
