Sulphide Creek Falls

Sulphide Creek Falls, Waterfall in North Cascades National Park, Washington, US.

Sulphide Creek Falls is a waterfall in North Cascades National Park that drops in multiple steps through the steep alpine landscape of the region. The water cascades down through a narrow valley surrounded by rocky cliffs and thick forest, creating a striking contrast between the white water and dark rock formations.

The waterfall got its name from mineral deposits in the area where molybdenum mining took place in the 1950s. This mining activity shaped the region's history and shows how people used this remote landscape in different ways.

The waterfall represents the natural forces that shaped the North Cascades region, drawing interest from mountaineers and nature researchers.

The Baker River Trail is the nearest maintained hiking path, but the final stretch requires good footing and stamina on unmarked ground through thick brush. Bring sturdy shoes, plenty of water, and a map since the route can be hard to follow.

The water comes from two glaciers, Sulphide and Crystal, whose melt changes the flow dramatically with the seasons. In summer when glacial melting peaks, the waterfall's force becomes especially powerful.
