Hidden Lake Peaks

Hidden Lake Peaks is a mountain summit in North Cascades National Park that reaches approximately 7,100 feet and displays granite formations, alpine meadows, and sheer cliffsides along its ridgeline. The landscape transitions from forested lower slopes through open alpine zones with expansive views across the surrounding Cascade Range.

A fire lookout tower was built on the peak in 1931 and served for many years to watch for forest fires. The structure was abandoned in 1958 but remains today as a historic relic from the era of fire detection stations.

The Friends of Hidden Lake Lookout organization maintains the historical structure through dedicated volunteer work, preserving its architectural features for future generations.

The trail to the summit is challenging with several miles of hiking that involves significant elevation gain through changing terrain. Visitors should come prepared with sturdy footwear, plenty of water, and weather protection since conditions at the top can change rapidly.

During summer months, algae growth on remaining snowfields gives the snow a reddish tint, creating an unexpected visual phenomenon high on the mountain. These organisms thrive in extreme alpine conditions and appear only during warmer seasons.
