Mount Whitney Trail, Hiking trail in California
The Mount Whitney Trail is a trail that climbs Mount Whitney. It starts at Whitney Portal, 13 miles (21 km) west of the town of Lone Pine, California.
The trail was created in 1904 as a route for pack animals.
It's a popular destination for hikers and mountaineers from all around the world.
The trail is about 22 miles (35 km) round trip with an elevation gain of over 6,100 feet (1,860 m).
Mount Whitney Trail is the most frequently used route to access Mount Whitney, the highest point in the contiguous United States.
