The name originates from the indigenous Hualapai people, whose name translates to People of the Tall Pines in their native language.
The area offers over 11 miles of trails suitable for different fitness levels and crossing various elevations. The best time to explore is the cooler weather from fall through spring.
The mountains contain multiple climate zones with desert shrublands in lower areas and conifer forests higher up. This ecological variety in a compact space allows visitors to experience different habitats and plant types during a single hike.
