Boulder City, Desert municipality in Clark County, Nevada, United States
Boulder City is a municipality in Clark County in the state of Nevada, spread across a desert plateau at an elevation of 2,510 feet (765 meters). The settlement sits between mountains and near the Lake Mead National Recreation Area.
The United States Bureau of Reclamation founded the municipality in 1931 to house thousands of workers during the construction of Hoover Dam. After completion of the work, the settlement remained and developed into an independent town.
The Art in the Park festival brings together artists, craftspeople and residents who display their work and celebrate local traditions. The event takes place in Wilbur Square Park and shows the artistic life of the community.
The municipal golf course offers 18 holes with mountain views, while nearby Lake Mead provides opportunities for swimming and boating. The paths in the center are walkable, and roads lead to different recreation areas in the surroundings.
The town belongs to the only two places in Nevada where gambling within municipal boundaries remains prohibited. This peculiarity dates back to its founding period and distinguishes the place from almost all other settlements in the state.
